We are delighted that you are considering our program to obtain further postgraduate training! We look forward to meeting you and hope you find this site to be a useful resource. Please see below for important information related to this year's recruitment season. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Applicants apply to both the Internal Medicine categorical program and Physician Scientist Training Program through ERAS. Candidates are initially reviewed by Internal Medicine, then PSTP leadership, then the relevant Fellowship Program. Candidates will be surveyed on their research and fellowship interests. Once selected by the IM program, applicants should schedule themselves through ERAS for an interview day based upon their intended fellowship program. If also selected by PSTP and the relevant fellowship program, the PSTP Administrator will reach out to candidates with additional scheduling information. PSTP interviews typically take place immediately following categorical interviews, and interviews with the fellowship program typically take place later that same day or the following business day.
We will reach out to applicants to survey research interests as a part of our application review process. You are, however, welcome, to submit this at any time if you would like to. Please take a moment to fill in the UMN DOM PSTP Interest Survey.
We are currently reviewing applications and will provide application status updates in October. Our interview schedule will fit within that of the categorical program, with some spots held for PSTP applicants to ensure applicants are able to schedule an interview date that allows interviews with the categorical program, PSTP, and the fellowship that is in alignment with research interests. We currently have the interview dates listed below held for PSTP candidates:
11/12/25: Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation
11/24/25: Cardiovascular Disease; Infectious Diseases
12/2/25: Cardiovascular Disease; Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation
12/5/25: Gastroenterology, Pulmonary/Critical Care
12/8/25: Cardiovascular Disease; Gastroenterology; Rheumatology
On these dates, categorical interviews with the Residency Program will be conducted in the morning and PSTP/Fellowship interviews will be conducted in the afternoon/evening.
Interview itineraries will be emailed three business days prior to your scheduled interview day. This will be emailed to you separately from your interview itinerary with the categorical program.
