You will take classes from local professors at the International Sustainable Development Studies Institute (ISDSI). ISDSI is an educational institution dedicated to teaching about sustainability.
ISDSI hosts the MSID Thailand program in addition to other study abroad programs for students from American colleges. This means that you will not be the only students onsite and, while you may partner with the other programs for field excursions, the MSID program is a very different and separate program from the others being run by ISDSI.
The ISDSI center provides students with:
Wi-Fi
Air-conditioned study and classroom spaces
Access to the cafe, gym, and yoga facilities onsite
ISDSI employs several staff members, all of whom are there to assist you during your time in Thailand. Use them as a resource and as your first contacts for emergencies or concerns related to housing, academics, health, safety, culture shock, and much more. They have extensive experience working with American college students, an in-depth understanding of Thai culture, and are happy to help you during your time abroad. You can read more about the staff on the program webpage.
ISDSI also invites a number of Thai college students to act as cultural ambassadors. You will get to know them as they will be in class and join you on excursions. Past students have said the Thai students are a highlight of the program and are eager to share their culture.
