State Advisory Board

The Master Gardener State Advisory Board (SAB) provides input to the State Leadership Team to inform governing policies for the statewide program. The Board comprises Master Gardener volunteers who represent the five regions of the state: Central, Northwest, Northeast, Southwest and Southeast. 

Advisory Board members act as ambassadors for the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program, and communicate the Master Gardeners' mission to local, county, district, and state officials, ensuring the continuance and effectiveness of the program throughout the entire state. 

Would you like to become a member of the State Advisory Board? SAB applications are accepted during the fall, with the 3-year terms beginning at the June meeting of the following year. Watch for information about applying for the SAB in the monthly statewide Master Gardener newsletter.  

What you should expect to do as an Advisory Board member:

• Attend and participate in four, all day meetings per year.  Meetings are generally on the third Friday of January, April, June, and September.   Meetings are in-person at the Landscape Arboretum, with a virtual meeting in January via Zoom.

• Assist the State Leadership Team in organizing and hosting the annual Regional SAB Gatherings.  

• Network with individual Master Gardeners as well as county groups, face to face when possible, and bring their suggestions, ideas and concerns to the SAB and the State Leadership Team.
