Safety of Minors & Volunteer Agreement

The University of Minnesota is committed to providing a safe environment for minors participating in University sponsored programs that are held on or off University property. The Safety of Minors training helps volunteer understand their role and responsibilities as mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect as they work with the University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener Program.

Additionally--so that Master Gardener volunteers may be formally informed of what is expected of them--the volunteer agreement outlines requirements, standards of behavior, and codes of conduct, that must be adhered to for the duration of one's volunteer experience.

• All Master Gardener Volunteers must complete the Safety of Minors training and review the Volunteer Agreement.

• Master Gardener interns take the Safety of Minors training, and review the volunteer agreement prior to registering for the Core Course.

• Training and volunteer agreement must be reviewed every third year afterwards.
