Burroughs Wellcome Postdoctoral Enrichment Fund
Supports the career development activities for underrepresented minority postdoctoral fellows in a degree-granting institution in the United States or Canada whose training and professional development are guided by mentors committed to helping them advance to stellar careers in biomedical or medical research.
HHMI Gilliam Fellowships for Advanced Study
The goals of the Gilliam program are to ensure that populations historically excluded from and underrepresented in science are prepared to assume leadership roles, including as college and university faculty, and to foster the development of a healthier, more inclusive academic scientific ecosystem.

AAUW Selected Professions Fellowship
Awarded to women who intend to pursue a full-time course of study at accredited U.S. institutions during the fellowship year in one of the designated degree programs where women’s participation traditionally has been low. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
American Indian Graduate Center Graduate Fellowship
Applicants must be an enrolled member of a U.S. Federally recognized American Indian & Alaska Native groups in the United States, must be pursuing or planning to pursue a master’s, doctorate or professional degree, and must apply for campus-based aid through federal financial aid process at university financial aid office
Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship & Dissertation Fellowship
Through its program of fellowships, the Ford Foundation seeks to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.
The objective of the Ph.D. Engineering/Science program is to offer doctoral fellowships to underrepresented minority students who have either completed, are currently enrolled in a master’s in engineering program, or received admittance into a PhD program directly from a bachelor’s degree program. Fellowships may be used at any participating GEM Member University where the GEM Fellow is admitted.
AAUW American Dissertation, Postdoctoral, and Publication Fellowships
The purpose of these fellowships is to offset a scholar’s living expenses while she completes her dissertation, completes postdoctoral work, or works to publish. There are stipulations for each, so please read carefully before applying.
AERA Minority Dissertation Fellowship in Education
The Fellowship Program aims to provide support for doctoral dissertation research, to advance education research by outstanding minority graduate students, and to enhance these students competitiveness for academic appointments at major research universities. It supports fellows conducting education research and provides mentoring, capacity building activities, and guidance toward the completion of their doctoral studies.
Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans
Every year, The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans supports thirty New Americans, immigrants or the children of immigrants, who are pursuing graduate school in the United States.
