Our program, along with the University of Minnesota, is a trusted brand and institution throughout Minnesota. Continue this trust by following these general recommendations.
- Always wear your Master Gardener badge when working with the public.
- If possible, wear Master Gardener branded clothing. This increases program recognition and awareness. Purchase clothing online through Minnesota T's.
- Only share research-based information and resources. Even if you have an anecdotal solution that worked for you, refrain from sharing this information unless supported by science.
- If sharing materials, use Extension materials that has been reviewed by content experts.
- Do not endorse specific brands or stores when providing information.

Build Better Community Connections
We work in diverse communities throughout the state. An openness to learning about and respecting other cultures and approaches to living makes all of us stronger. Follow these recommendations to better work with people in your community.
- Take time to learn about different cultures, races, religions, and background represented by members of the communities you serve.
- Understand the diverse elements you personally bring to the program and share with your community through your work.
- Welcome ideas that are different from your own.
- Converse with interest with everyone, every time.
- Common social activities and practices that are comfortable for you, such as shaking hands, may not be comfortable for everyone. Keep that in mind when engaging with community members.
- Be willing to learn, accept feedback, and listen to the concerns of those around you - whether it be fellow volunteers, community members, your coordinator or local leader, or the state leadership team.
