REQUIREMENTS

Spend a minimum of 75% effort on training, research, and career development activities related to K-R01 Program. 

With your mentoring team each year, address components of your career development plan:

1. Develop your career vision and career mission.

2. Develop a Individual Development Plan for strategic and annual goals with associated near-term objectives, specific objectives, and competencies for the two years. Submit to CTSI-Ed within first two months of funding. (more information)

3.  Identify what strategies (e.g. experiences, training, etc.) will facilitate objective achievement and how experiences and training will be acquired.

1. Meet at regularly established times with your mentors individually and as a team. Meetings with the full mentoring team must be held, at a minimum, three times a year.  Meeting with the primary mentor (substituted at times by a secondary mentor) should be approximately weekly. 

Submit NIH R01-award or R01 equivalent funding within the first 18 months of support and utilize the External Paid Grant Review program. 

Complete a baseline, interim, and post mentee survey to assess your confidence in developing and maintaining a productive mentoring relationship and to evaluate your experiences with mentors. 

Scholars are required to complete all requested program evaluation surveys in a timely manner.

Complete Hogan Leadership Forecast Series Assessments (90-minute debrief and coaching session with Michelle Lamere, MPA, ACC, CDTLF)

Participate in and submit materials for a mid-year committee progress review and annual and final written progress review. 

Attend at least 75% of the required monthly scholar meetings, led by Dr. Kim Mansky.  

Present aims or other research related topics/materials to K-R01 scholar group at least 2 times a year.  

Attend Biannual CTSI Translational Science Retreats.

Opt-in to the CTSI K and Beyond Club.

Submit an abstract to and attend the annual Clinical and Translational Science conference (ACTS), held in the spring each year. Especially encouraged if awardees have not previously attended the conference.

Participate in a mock study section at either the annual national Translational Science Meeting (ACTS).

Submit at least one abstract to a relevant national scientific meeting each year. 

Present research at the annual CTSI Research Poster Session on September 15, 2027 and September 19, 2028.

Participate in the Proposal Preparation Program (P3) within year 1 of the K-R01 award, unless specifically exempted by Dr. Mansky.  Required only if awardees have not previously attended the program. 

Complete wellbeing online training course or self-selected series of webinars, lectures, or podcasts.
