CSTP utilizes a cohort as its primary model for training. A group of 6-10 staff from multiple campus units learn and practice together as a community. Format for the program includes lessons, role-playing, practice, homework, and shadowing. Total time commitment is approximately 25 hours over the course of 4 months.
The main goals of the program are to help staff:
Increase student sense of belonging, persistence, and resiliency through the use of coaching skills and techniques.
Expand and strengthen existing relationship-building and goal-setting skills used in supporting students.
Build community with other advisors, counselors, coaches, and program coordinators across campus units.
CSTP aims to meet these goals by focusing on 3 learning objectives:
Cultivating coaching and equity attitudes
