Colonial Collections Across the University (CCAU) is a collaboration to engage people across the University of Minnesota and Twin Cities who work with archival, museum, teaching, and research collections that are the legacies of colonial collecting practices. The CCAU project works not only cross-institutionally within the Twin Cities, but also across disciplines and academic department collections at the University of Minnesota, which often exist in silos.
The goals of the CCAU Collaborative are twofold: first, to create and grow connections between collecting units (both on- and off-campus) which can re-associate legacy collections; and second, to create resources which help others do the same with their own collections. Ultimately we seek to reassociate, restore, and return collections which have been extracted from communities and Tribal nations.
