Supporting and Enhancing Learning through Collaboration

Collaboration is prevalent in Universities. Among science researchers, this has been normalized for some time due to the increasing interdisciplinary and specialized research that is conducted through the advantages of technology, but also among the social sciences and humanities. Researchers who see the value of engaging in interdisciplinary scholarship to critically assess effects on society have considerably produced timely, and intellectually engaging work. This professional development in the era of continuous change has been successful to Universities who have maximized the intellectual advancement of their faculty by recruiting new students who want to study with engaging faculty. Which is why collaboration has been implemented in college classrooms to enhance student's learning and prepare them to a predominantly collaborative professional environment. To explore the strategies and views of collaboration in the classroom, the Interdisciplinary Collaborative Writing team are interested in learning more about what other colleges and disciplines are teaching and how collaboration is understood in their classrooms. The purpose is to use the existing practices of faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students and maximize their learning potential through collaboration and collaborative writing assignments. We have provided a range of informational sources about collaboration and collaborative writing from our initial workshops (Fall 2019) with participants encompassing different colleges and positions within the University. we hope to continue using this as a resource for you to use and contribute ideas that you'd like to see here.
