Our 4-H financial policies and practices are based on the philosophy that learning happens when youth are engaged, that there is benefit in quality relationships, and that developing life skills is essential for youth to reach their potential. These beliefs support the 4-H mission and the Essential Elements of Youth Development.
The general financial practices page covers policies and information that apply to all 4-H programs, clubs and events. It is important for members and volunteers to recognize that managing funds on behalf of 4-H is a privilege and there are responsibilities related to financial activities .
The 4-H club finances page covers practices and policies that apply specifically to 4-H clubs. Roles, responsibilities and resources are provided to guide clubs in properly managing funds in a way that supports positive youth development.
The 4-H federation/council finances page covers practices and policies that apply specifically to the county leadership group. Each local program is guided by a federation or council that collaboratively makes decisions about the program’s direction, including the development and approval of a budget for local 4-H programming, in accordance with established policies. Roles, responsibilities, resources, guidelines and policies are provided to guide federation/councils in stewarding the local program.
