This site provides an overview of the expected structure and components of a Local Ambassador program. Using data collected over five years, the Minnesota 4-H Civic Engagement and Leadership (CEL) state function team developed this resource to articulate a consistent structure focused on strength and sustainability, while allowing flexibility to meet local and programmatic needs.
Between 2012-15, the program model and related curriculum was piloted with thirteen county 4-H programs, using their findings to further craft the design into the model that endures today. Periodic reviews conducted every 3-5 years incorporate best practices and current research in youth leadership development, as well as program evaluation data from 4-H groups utilizing the program model and curriculum. The model presented here reflects the most recent revisions, which were completed in 2024-25.
