Nice to meet you! ✨🍀
I'm a 5th-year PhD Candidate at the University of Michigan, School of Information, co-advised by Professors Sun Young Park and Mark Newman. My research aims to advance equitable health management for children with chronic conditions by developing systems that empower them to actively collaborative with their caregivers.
Over the during my PhD, I have focused on children with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) and their parents, investigating how technology like AI chatbots can facilitate their collaborative illness management through health data tracking and reflection. Drawing on insights from the studies and resulting publications, my long-term vision is to create AI-supported health tracking tools that help
children learn from their own data, enable parents to provide appropriate oversight, and foster shared familyreflection.
I am a recipient of the Kwanjeong Educational Foundation Scholarship and was selected for Korean Government Scholarship for Overseas Studies. Prior to joining UMich, I received my master's degree from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) and my bachelor's degree from Yonsei University, South Korea.
My research interests are focused on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Personal Health Informatics, and Collaborative Health Tracking Technologies. Specific methodologies and tools that I used throughout the research were:
UX Research: Interview, Probe Study, Usability Testing, Thematic Analysis, Co-Design Workshop
Data Science: Statistical Analysis, Data Mining, and Visualization using R and Python
Programming: Python, R, Java (Android), C# (Unity, HoloLens, Arduino), SQL
I love brewing a cup of tea or coffee, walking outside, finding cute animals, traveling, and meeting inspiring people! ✨ If you are interested in chatting or working with me, please feel free to email me!
