Identifying Risk Management Strategies for Children with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D)
How do parental caregivers collaboratively manage children's T1D for risk situations (e.g., too high or too low blood sugar level) which could be detrimental to the child's health?
Conducted semi-structured interviews with pairs of children with T1D and their parents.
Analyzed transcripts using the thematic analysis approach.
Derived a total of 2,376 codes which were grouped into 12 high-level themes and 110 sub-themes.
Identified the four types of parental strategies for managing children's risky situations based on two dimensions:
1) Cause of risk, and 2) Occurrence of risk
