Learn about the University of Michigan's lean program
Join us for a tour that demonstrates how the teams at the University of Michigan Shared Services Center (SSC) use the Lean in Daily Work visual system to manage and improve their work.
Our Lean coaches teach this model to help teams surface and solve problems that come up in the regular flow of their workday. All the teams at the SSC use this approach to make improvements, save money and create capacity for new service offerings. We teach the Lean in Daily Work course over several months so that teams have the breathing room to combine hands-on practice (70%), personal coaching (20%), and classroom learning (10%). It aligns with the 70/20/10 model of how people learn. We like to think of the course as building "problem solving muscle!"
During this visit, we'll share how teams measure the impact of their improvement efforts and the additional benefits we've realized (hint - increased engagement and an awesome place to work!). In the past year, the SSC teams have completed 173 Lean projects to save 24,603 hours. We’ve taught this model to teams from finance, human resources, research, marketing, libraries, admissions, student engagement, etc. We would love to share it with you!
Tours are currently available Tuesday afternoon, November 5. Our Wednesday tour is full. Please use the form below to register by October 29, 2019.
