The University of Michigan seed library is an inter-campus effort to encourage a culture of community and networking through seed-keeping. Seed library check-out locations can be found on the Ann Arbor, Flint, and Dearborn campuses. While we strive to provide high-quality seeds, the seed library cannot guarantee the germination rate or purity of the seeds.
We only accept donations of open-pollinated and heirloom seeds. Please take care when harvesting from native seed populations to take a small portion of seeds from a wide range of sites to prevent over-harvesting and resource depletion. Please provide all relevant information when donating seeds, including plant variety, harvest date, and other important growing conditions. We do not knowingly accept hybrid, patented, or genetically modified (GMO) seeds.
We are always happy to hear from interested folks both on campus and in the community so feel free to reach out to us at umseedlibrary@umich.edu today to start a conversation!
