School of Social Work – Guidelines for Posting Flyers, Posters, and Other Related Items on or within the School of Social Work Building (SSWB)

Purpose: To provide a guideline for controlling the placement of flyers, posters, etc., at the SSWB in order to maintain a safe environment, control waste, and prevent damage to university property.

Various bulletin boards throughout the building have been designated for public use by student organizations as well as administrative offices. Officially recognized SSW or UM student organizations, SSW administrative staff, and SSW or U-M students may place posters and advertisements on any public bulletin board within the Building. All postings must list the sponsoring organization's name and contact information (such as a group or contact person's email address). Posters that do not include identifying information will be removed.  

Posters should be affixed to bulletin boards with staples, thumbtacks or push pins. Tapes, adhesives, nails, or other metal fasteners are not allowed. 

Posters should be placed so they do not block or interfere with adjacent posters. Posters must be dated with either an event date or date of posting. Non-dated, posting over 30 days, or past event dates will be removed from the bulletin boards. 

• No posting in elevators, classrooms, restrooms, stairwells, or on random walls or windows

• No posting on individual office tack boards without permission from the occupant

• No flyers without permission of the SSW’s administrative team may be left out on table tops in any of the common spaces or classrooms within SSWB

• No posting may exceed 11 inches by 17 inches in size

• Posters are limited to one per bulletin board

Please contact the Facilities office if you are promoting an upcoming event. The facilities office will assist you in locating the numerous bulletin board options that are available for posting. Some activities can be included on the SSW’s website, forum, and/or digital signage.
