Through its activities, the Education and Equity in a Global Society group (EEGS) works to generate greater participation in global education research opportunities and collaborations across national borders. We have two overarching goals:
1. To build and support a community of individuals, within the School of Education and across the university, who are interested in sharing ideas about, and experiences with, educational research that has a global focus. In operational terms, this means research that is focused on issues and settings beyond the United States.
2. In conjunction with the School’s and university’s DEI missions, to heighten awareness of global perspectives and contexts as they relate to educational research and student learning.
Monthly meetings provide a platform for global engagement where
Students who are interested-- or presently involved-- in educational research beyond U.S. contexts present in-progress studies.
Students receive peer and faculty input on research design and negotiating issues in these research settings.
Faculty share recent international collaborative research experiences.
SOE Visiting Scholars are invited to present their research and familiarize the Group with their country’s education systems.
