Lab values

Our lab aspires to be a welcoming, inclusive, non-hierarchical environment that supports all of our members in all of their identities.

We engage in joint decision making to make sure that all voices in our lab are heard.

We recognize that as mentors, we are stewards of the time that students and trainees spend with us.  This means that we are dedicated not only to training student to perform the work that they do in the lab and grow academically, but also sponsor and support their individual career development as they move beyond our lab.  We are committed to ensuring that participation in research is not an experience limited to students who can afford to volunteer their time.

We recognize that the scientific problems we study affect many of the most vulnerable members of our society, and that the clinical and translational research that we do is only possible due to the participation of patients and their families on some of the most challenging days of their lives.  We strive to do work that will honor the generosity of those individuals.
