PPE includes individual use of protective equipment such as:

Face Shields or CAPR Hoods 

Sharps material include any object that is able to penetrate through the skin to cause injury such as in a puncture, or cut. Sharps are estimated by the World Health Organization(WHO) to account for nearly 16 billion injections to be completed in the U.S. annually(Janik-Karpinska et al., 2023)

Making it a large focus for waste management programs, as to prevent injuries sharps must be to dispose ofpenetrate the skin to cause harm. Sharps can include but are not limited to needles, scalpels, syringes, and lancets to check glucose measurements. These materials are monitored as well as any material that comes in contacts with bodily fluids of any patient or individual. This would include vomiting contents, urine, feces, saliva, and blood and or blood products.
