MPrOVE recently completed project selections from the 2025 Call for Proposals cycle, and therefore we are unable to take on any new projects in the short-term. That said, the Call for Proposals application will remain open as we are still interested in discussing early-stage ideas or future projects that could be implemented at a later date. Our next cycle to select and take on projects will occur in the second half of 2026, but you are encouraged to submit an idea or reach out at any time.
If you have any questions, please contact Tony Cuttitta (cuttitta@med.umich.edu).
The Michigan Program on Value Enhancement (MPrOVE) catalyzes innovations that help Michigan Medicine improve the value of clinical care through de-implementation of low-value care, right-sizing efforts such as site optimization & telehealth, and use of technology tools that expand clinician capacity and improve experience.
MPrOVE’s call for proposals is open to all Michigan Medicine teams and clinicians. MPrOVE seeks ideas to right-size care, leading to value-based projects, partnerships, and research that is aligned with Michigan Medicine’s BASE+ strategic priorities. Early-stage concepts and further developed project ideas are welcome. Of particular interest in Fall 2025, MPrOVE was interested in selecting a project that focused on:
Inpatient ideas to de-implement low-value care, particularly those that delay discharge or create unnecessary care cascades
Ambulatory care ideas to improve value, particularly those that expedite access through tailored used of virtual care, better use of advanced practice providers (APPs), or use of best practices/new tools to improve patient flow
A selected project(s) will receive tailored support from MPrOVE’s multidisciplinary team:
Faculty Collaboration: Partnership with faculty experts in de-implementation and implementation science to guide evidence-based strategies.
Project Management Expertise: Experienced project managers to help plan, coordinate, and execute your initiative efficiently.
Data Analytics Support: Access to skilled data analysts who can assist with data extraction, analysis, and interpretation.
We welcome proposals from Michigan Medicine faculty, staff, and teams who are interested in improving care value through de-implementation or implementation strategies. Whether you are clinical, operational, or research-focused, we encourage you to apply.
We are looking for projects that aim to reduce low-value care, improve patient outcomes, and/or enhance operational efficiency. Both early-stage ideas and more developed initiatives are welcome.
Yes, individuals or teams may submit multiple proposals. Each submission should be distinct and address a separate value-based care opportunity.
The application requests information about your project idea based on what type(s) of assistance you are requesting from MPrOVE. For example, if you are submitting an "Early-Stage Idea," the form is very brief, while applications requesting "Full Project Support" or "Evaluation" are asked for more detailed and specific information regarding project plans or evaluation needs. If you have additional questions or would like to see all form questions in advance, please contact Tony Cuttitta (cuttitta@med.umich.edu).
Project timelines may vary, but most are expected to span 12 to 18 months. If your project requires a longer duration, please provide justification in your proposal.
No. While data can strengthen your proposal, it is not required. If available, please provide an estimate of the scope of the problem and the number of patients or cases that could be impacted. If data is not yet available, a rough approximation or rationale is welcome.
Proposals will be reviewed by a multidisciplinary committee based on criteria such as relevance to value-based care, alignment with Michigan Medicine goals & BASE+ strategic priorities, feasibility, potential impact, and alignment with MPrOVE’s mission.
Projects selected through the Fall 2025 Call for Proposals are expected to begin in early 2026 following final review. The next selection cycle will take place in the later half of 2026.
MPrOVE can provide different support based on your needs. The primary type of in-kind support includes consultation from our faculty team, project management support, and data analysis/evaluation. Other types of support could include small amounts of funding to support faculty time or other needs. Please indicate what you feel you need in your application.
You are welcome to share these ideas. While submissions outside these categories are unlikely to be selected, our team is happy to review your ideas and consider possible future collaborations or ways we might assist in moving your idea forward.
Yes. You can select this option within the application form and share your ideas or interests very briefly. These applications are unlikely to be selected for project support, but we would be happy to review your ideas and consult to see if we can offer any help to move your idea forward.
Yes, another call for proposals will occur in 2026. Applications that are not selected in this round will be given feedback and would be welcome to submit again in a future cycle.
