Education Committee
What does EDUCATION do?
The purpose of the Education Committee is to coordinate MHA's general meetings and facilitate inter-committee team building. The committee puts on informative and interactive presentations for MHA members, hosts discussions, and invites guest speakers in order to spark substantive dialogue about health disparities and community-centered approaches to healthcare. Committee members also work on public health-oriented projects that support the work of MHA's other committees and/or community partners.
A LOOK At our work
The Education Committee hosted presentations covering a variety of topics in the Fall 2024 semester. The term began with a team-building focused meeting, and later meetings included an EMT case study, panels with E-Board members and MHA alumni, and more. Furthermore, the committee worked closely with MHA's Community-Coordinated Preventative Screenings Program (CCPS) this past semester to analyze the results of the Health Needs Survey that CCPS volunteers had conducted at the Delonis Center. Following this analysis, the two committees delivered a joint presentation to Delonis Center staff members and health personnel highlighting key takeaways from the survey.

"I have been in MHA starting September and it’s been a great experience! Giving a presentation to Delonis about the health screenings was a super eye-opening experience and then seeing how the health screenings happen in person really showed me what our community needs and the importance of empathetic care."
