Sensory health is essential to healthy aging, yet hearing, vision, balance, smell, taste, and touch are too often studied in isolation. As our population ages, there is an unprecedented opportunity to bring together expertise across disciplines to better understand how sensory health influences independence, cognition, communication, and quality of life.
Mi-SHARC was created to foster that collaboration. By connecting researchers, clinicians, trainees, and community partners across the University of Michigan and beyond, we aim to accelerate discovery, spark new partnerships, and translate research into meaningful improvements for older adults.
We are deeply grateful to the many faculty, collaborators, institutional partners, and supporters whose shared vision and commitment made Mi-SHARC possible. This collaborative was built through their generosity, expertise, and belief that working together will achieve more than any one discipline or organization could accomplish alone.
As a new and growing collaborative, we invite you to be part of our journey. Subscribe to our email list to stay informed about research, events, and opportunities, or become a Mi-SHARC Affiliate to access the full range of collaborative offerings and connect with our expanding community.
Thank you for your interest in Mi-SHARC. We look forward to building the future of sensory health and aging research together.
Sincerely,
Josh Ehrlich, MD, MPH
Director, Michigan Sensory Health and Aging Research Collaborative (Mi-SHARC)
