The following data was gathered from University of Michigan's Office of the Registrar, under historic reports from 1999 to 2015.

For each year, the number of students were totaled and percentages for different racial groups were calculated. This way the data is consistent and comparable in terms of how each subgroup of ethnicities are making up the total undergraduate student population.

*From 1999-2003 the groups were: Black, Asian, American Indian, Hispanic, White, None/Unknown

*From 2003-2010 the groups were: Black, Asian, Native American, Hispanic, White, None/Unknown

*From 2010-2015 the groups were: Asian, Black, Hawaiian, Hispanic, Native American, White, Two or More, Unknown
