Experiment Three

There is a vastly different structure between Enlightenment-era writing and contemporary prose. Namely, the use of citations.

In earlier times, we saw a predominance of abstract logic & argumentation in written works: ideas were based on logical premises that built on one another to form cohesive arguments.

Nowadays, our academic articles are all substantiated by citations. Most writing doesn't go more than two sentences without an obligatory citation.

This pitch aims to explore this shift in argument structure, and provide hands-on experiences for me to learn first-hand how to revive the lost art of abstract argumentation
