Eligibility
Basic Criteria
Applicants must be a UM-Ann Arbor student, regardless of citizenship, enrolled in a degree program, and must return to campus after completing the project for at least one term prior to graduation.
Projects cannot begin before May 1, 2021.
2021 update: it is intended that IISF projects take place outside of the U.S. and U.S. territories, however, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, certain (but not all) awards may allow for projects to be partly/wholly virtually conducted. Further information about virtual projects is available on each award's information page.
Additional Eligibility Information
Applicants must meet all requirements of the University International Travel Policy, and, if applicable, the Institutional Review Board. Applicants are responsible for compliance and must verify eligibility prior to travel.

Funding is for individuals and may not be used for support of student groups or organizations.
Funding is not provided for service learning or study abroad*.
Funding for all awards is not guaranteed and is dependent on the competitiveness of your application and availability of funding.
