President
I respond to the name Takunda Chazovachii. I am very excited to serve in GCF, a priceless opportunity to build others and grow in the faith. I am now in my final year towards earning my Ph.D. in Chemistry at UM and I am very grateful for the support and cheer GCF has given me from the very beginning of the journey. I hope to carry this beautiful ethos wherever I go. Outside of chemistry, I enjoy playing chess, watching documentaries about God's marvelous nature (Planet Earth), and cooking (they say never trust a chemist who cannot cook). Welcome to GCF!
New Student Outreach Coordinator
My name is Gillian and I'm a second year graduate student working on my Masters in Aerospace Engineering (I'm hopefully graduating in May 2021). I currently hail from Washington, D.C. but I call East Tennessee home. Even though I miss the delicious sweet tea of the south, some of my favorite things about Ann Arbor are the BEAUTIFUL fall weather and the amazing local restaurants. The reason I joined GCF my first semester was to find Christian comradery and a loving community of believers to be a part of - and I found exactly that! I hope you sign up for our email updates or drop by one of our weekly Bible studies. I can't wait to meet you!!
Worship Coordinator
My name is David and I am happy to be serving in GCF. To this day I still think about the pure joy it is to study dentistry at Michigan. Dentistry is truly a mixture of art, science, engineering, craftsmanship and so much more. As to the type of dentist I aspire to become... we have so many different types of doctors with different forms and strengths, but one thing I know for certain is that I hope to be a dentist that works, lives, and breathes for something greater. As I continue to learn and discover what that truly means with God's purpose for my life...what excites and inspires you? What is the greater guiding compass in your life?
Treasurer
Hello! I am happy to serve as the treasurer of Graduate Christian Fellowship for the 2020-2021 school year. This group is generally warm, intellectual, and on fire to serve Jesus and the community. Three years ago when I decided to move across the country and pursue a PhD in Macromolecular Science & Engineering, I knew that I needed to plant solid roots with other believers and find a healthy church community. Graduate Christian Fellowship has helped me tremendously in my walk with God and my walk through a PhD program. If your experience is anything like mine, expect to make friends, grow, be challenged spiritually, laugh and love deeply.
InterVarsity Campus Minister
My name is Rob Narske and I am the InterVarsity Campus Minister working with the Graduate Christian Fellowship. I am married to my beautiful wife, Fietka, and we have two young boys – Raleigh and Emery. My family and I have been here in Ann Arbor for over 4 years working with graduate students and faculty. I grew up in the Midwest but spent the previous 18 years in the South (North Carolina and Texas). It has been great to return to the Midwest and experience four real seasons again.
Personally, graduate school became a dark time spiritually for me. I did not have the support of an on-campus Christian community or a church home. It wasn’t until later in grad school that I found this connection. Through that experience, I came to realize the importance of being a part of a faith-based community and growing spiritually during this phase of your life. A vital faith in Christ is the only thing that will keep you anchored as you navigate through graduate school. I am excited about the opportunities I get to interact, hangout with and disciple students. I would love to get a chance to get to know you and buy you a cup of coffee or tea. Drop me an email or text and we can start the conversation.
