Whispr was made to provide amateur singers with a private, comfortable, portable practice environment. It provides a private experience to practice by dampening the users voice, alleviating the insecurity and anxiety that many amateurs experience. Whispr is more breathable than competitors, such as BeltBox, and is more comfortable for longer term use, such as practice. Finally, Whispr is lightweight and portable, providing a practice room to Carol with Confidence.
Whispr is a wearable mask that allows singers to practice singing privately. It has two attachment straps, one of which goes around the user's neck and the other around the top of the head. Whispr has two main components, the outer shell which houses electrical components, and the internal dampening unit which provides sound attenutation. Whispr's electronics provide audio feedback, both in live and playback form, to provide users with the ability to listen to themselves and improve their singing abilities.
The outer shell houses Whispr's electronics. Four buttons on the side provide the interface with which to access Whispr's feedback capabilities. The user can record their voice and then play it back later at any time, as many times as they'd like. Whispr can also provide live audio feedback should the user wish to be able to hear themselves during use. The outer shell has five slots for improved breathability and comfort. The shell also covers the users nose to acclimate closer to what a normal face mask would look like, alleviating anxiety the user may feel from wearing the device. The shell also has soft rubber material where it may contact the nose for added comfort.
The internal dampening unit (IDU) provides Whispr's sound attenuating properties. Dampening the user's voice by almost 20 dB, the IDU provides the user with portable privacy. The shell is made of ABS, and contains acoustic fabric, a recycled polyester blend. A hole at the front provides access to the microphone contained in the outer shell, with an o-ring to provide a seal between the contact surfaces. It connects to the outer shell by sliding the connector pegs into their corresponding slots. The IDU also has a comfortable rubber seal at the contact points with the mouth. This seal allows a larger range of users to use the same size, as well as making the device more comfortable and dampening more. The IDU also has a small breathability vent on the side, located away from where the sound is focused.
As mentioned in Market Value, due to the lack of market data, product popularity was used as a measure of determining market share. Our top competitors are shown, with BeltBox comprising 44% of the market. Because of this, Whispr will comprise 5% of the total market share.
