Effective decision making needs data. We analyze and interactively visualize some specific datasetsfrom March 2020 to gain some insights. We hope that by summarizing these results of multiple studies, we can get a clearer picture on the virus and its impacts on daily life.Below you will find a series of studies. We hope that you can easily derive your own insights and discover the important implications of the disease.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound effect on the daily activities and mobility of the worldwide population. As personal social distancing measures and government strategies to “flatten the curve” take place, mobility capabilities have been widely and significantly affected.
In this work, we create visualizations of daily changes in mobility of different activities, time series analysis and predictive analysis for the mobility behavior in different countries of the world and in different states/counties in the United States. These analysis are based on Google’s COVID-19 Community Mobility Reports. Six different mobility activities are included in our dashboards: grocery and pharmacy, residential, retail, workplaces, parks and transit stations.
Michigan had its first two cases of COVID-19 confirmed on March 10, 2020. This dashboard attempts to show a few of the perspectives one can have when analyzing the spread of COVID-19 across the state of Michigan. This dashboard also aims to inform people of the spread of COVID-19 and the disparities that exist between different groups of the population. The dashboard was auto-updating, using data from a combination of websites and APIs which were then converted into Google Sheets to incorporate it into the dashboard in Google Data Studio. The dashboard compares each county in Michigan with their number of infected cases and deaths, from March 1 to June 17, 2020.
