We increased the mountain height to 5000 m to attempt to investigate the 'flow around' regime. We find the magnitudes of the temperature tendencies and relative vorticity are larger in the 5000 m case. The blocking is evident in the temperature tendency plots with positive values behind the mountains and mostly through the gap. In terms of the relative vorticity, the wake vorticies are separated from the gap flow as opposed to interacting in the control run.
