The Cardiovascular Regeneration Core Laboratory (CRCL) maintains high-end equipment and laboratory space necessary to generate high-quality patient specific cells for research purposes. The equipment is utilized to ensure quality control and assurance of the cells generated for research purposes. Essential equipment includes:

• Fully Equipped Cell Culture Laboratory:

  • Biosafety Cabinets (3)

  • Incubators (5)

  • Inverted microscopes (4)

• Biotek Cytation5 automated imager/Biospa incubator: This cutting edge equipment enables time lapse imaging at multiple magnifications (4x-40x) with fluorescence capabilities. Up to eight multi well plates can be run in the time lapse imager at a time.

• MACS Quant VYB Flow Cytometer: Utilized to ensure identity of cellular populations.

• AutoMACS: automated cell sorting

• CARTOX: automated macroscope for high throughput optical mapping.

• Isothermic Liquid Nitrogen Storage Tank: Provides secure cryo-storage and banking of patient specific cells.

• Controlled Rate Freezer: Optimized cryopreservation of derived cells with minimal cell loss upon thaw.
