I took on making a quilt for UB for my volunteering. Over the course of the summer I researched countless professional techniques that are used to make sure a quilt can last for a long time and stay strong. Through this I will have worked on a quilt made up of squares that were made by members of the UB community that volunteered to create artwork for it.

In this summer program I have completed 15 hours of volunteering. For my first bench mark I had to complete 3 hours of volunteering for this I decided to paint rocks and place them in several locations like the beach or a park. For my next volunteering task I had a total of five hours to complete I wanted to write letters to different senior centers I wrote a total of seven letters. in the next benchmark I had 7 hours to complete. I built a mini volcano with my siblings and put a base inside it so that we could make it erupt. To make up the rest of the time I planted kidney beans to plant in the garden.

I took care of my neighbor’s dogs during the weekday during the summer of 2020. I learned how to care for dogs and make sure they get exercise. I took them to the park or an open field for a few hours a day and made sure that they went to the bathroom. Sometimes we stayed inside when the weather was bad, but I always made sure to keep them company.

I made rocks in my volunteer time to place around Madison in hopes of cheering up someone and making their day better.
I helped my grandfather clean gravestones at a cemetery in Dixfield! I learned how rewarding it feels after cleaning these abandoned tombstones at these grave yards! I learned many specific techniques in working the algae and moss out of these old stones, by using an old toothbrush, chisel, old cloth, and scrubbing brushes.
