For my career explorations volunteer hours, I chose to make food for families in need. These are some photos of my favorite things that I have made over the past six weeks.

This summer for Upward Bound Career Explorations I volunteered with children in Waterville
For Career Explorations, I helped my dad in the garden outside our house, which means that I watered all the plants, picked out the weeds, as well as checking to see if any of the vegetables were ready to be picked. I also did something that I called "The People of UB," which is where I would interview my fellow Upward Bound students as well as the staff. I created several interview questions and tried to interview as many staff and students as possible, and I would put their answers to each of the questions into a large written piece for others to read.
This summer I worked with Upward Bound to learn more about various careers. In particular, I wanted to learn more about jobs surrounding the prevention of Climate Change and Pollution. I've learned of quite a few different jobs from various people. One of the groups I worked most with was the Maine Youth for Climate Justice league, (or MYCJ) and they helped refer me to quite a few people, some of whom I interviewed.
For volunteering this summer I did Citizen Science. Citizen Science is where you review or transcribe letters from different time periods of historical events.
My name is Neah Quimby, and this summer I got the opportunity to volunteer doing many different things thanks so the Upward Bound Career Exploration program. I gained experience from each thing I did that I can take with me for the rest of my life.
This summer for Upward Bound I completed art projects and created social media accounts to advocate for movements and further bring attention to them.
I choose to go to Knowlton Corner Farms and volunteer at their food waste project. At the farm we repurpose food that was given to us by the food bank that they feel will go bad if they don't give it to the farm. We take this food and make new food that more people will eat and give it back to the food bank.
Hi my name is Ethan San Pedro and I'm a 15 year old Freshman turning Sophomore from ELHS. This year I was given the chance to do upward bound and participate in fighting climate change by spreading the word of what we all can do to help.
Hey, my name is Xavier. Throughout this summer I was able to gain experience in washing cars and art practice. I also got better at math through FreeRice. I learned a lot about certain ways to wash certain parts of a car, and I also learned about a few different art styles.
