Assurance Statements

The Assurance statement will need to appear in some form on all University publications, including PowerPoint or other digital presentations.

From the AGNR Equity Administrator:

EEO Statement for Programs and Publications:

University programs, activities, and facilities are available to all without regard to race, color, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, age, national origin, political affiliation, physical or mental disability, religion, protected veteran status, genetic information, personal appearance, or any other legally protected class.

For flyers and short announcements:

This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Accommodation Statement:

If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in any event or activity, please contact your local University of Maryland Extension Office.

*Include contact information with the accommodation statement on who someone should contact if they need accommodation. You should also include a deadline for contacting that person which should be 2 weeks before the event.

And Justice For All Poster

Recent updates from UME's Compliance team let us know that we need to include this poster in all of our presentations. Here is a script that you can read for the slide containing the poster:

"I'd like to bring your attention to this poster. It is a direct message from our federal funder who wants to be sure you know you have a right to access our program and an accommodation if necessary. If you have any questions or concerns we hope you will let us know and the poster lets you know how you can contact the federal government directly as well."

This poster needs to be included as a slide in every virtual presentation. It also needs to be posted somewhere for in-person events if they are taking place somewhere other than the Extension office that does not already have a hard copy posted.

UME Logos and Style Guide

A full style guide for using all versions of the MG logo is available in the Forms and Resources section of this manual. Please adhere to these guidelines when using any of the MG logos. Please also follow the instructions in the style guide when using any logos affiliated with UMD or UME.

The most complete version of the MG program logo includes the UME logo stacked with the MG logo. This must be represented on all UME MG publications, signage, websites, event invitations, or other places where the UME MG program is being represented. It is important to ensure the program is correctly affiliated with UME. Please see the style guide for information on the appropriate use of this and all other MG program logos.

UME MG Branded Merchandise

To see the most updated inventory of available MG branded merchandise, visit the online MG shop.

Wearing UME MG Branded Merchandise

Volunteers are asked to remember that they are representing UME and the MG program when they wear apparel with the logo. Any apparel that is selected to have the UME MG logo on it must be an appropriate clothing item. Volunteers must abide by all UME and MG policies and guidelines when wearing MG volunteer apparel, and remember to be a positive representative of the MG program!

UME Name Badge Policy

The volunteer’s first and last name appear on the MG badge, as is the case with faculty and staff name badges. However, if a volunteer has a privacy concern, they can discuss with their coordinator other options.

Public Program Evaluation

When you present a program, please share the program evaluation survey with participants. This will help us evaluate the quality of our programming, the benefits we are providing to our communities, and where we can improve. The survey for 2024 can be accessed at https://go.umd.edu/MGprograms24.
