Link to Google Book version of Dryden's translation:
Thus have I sung of fields, and flocks, and trees,
And of the waxen works of labour in bees;
While mighty Caesar, thundering from afar,
Seeks on Euprhates' banks the spoils of war;
With conquering arms asserts his country's cause,
With arts of peace the willing people draws;
On the glad earth the golden age renews,
And his great father's path to heaven pursues;
While I at Naples pass my peaceful days,
Affecting studies of less noisy praise;
And, behold through youth, beneath the beechen shade,
The lays of shepherds and their loves, have played.
Thus I sang of the tending of fields and flocks and trees, while great Caesar hurled war's lightnings by high Euphrates and gave statutes among the nations in welcome supremacy, and scaled the path to heaven. Even in that season I Virgil, nurtured in sweet Parthenope, went in the flowery ways of lowly Quiet: I who once played with shepherds' songs, and in youth's hardihood sang thee, O Tityrus, under the covert of spreading beech.
