Manila Bay

About Manila Bay

Manila Bay is located on the western side of Luzon in the Philippines, opening to the South China Sea. It is a critical economic and cultural center, hosting the capital city of the Philippines, Manila. The bay has historically been a strategic trade route and a significant port for maritime activities.

Like many urban bays, Manila Bay faces environmental challenges, including pollution and sedimentation. Efforts are underway to address these issues and restore the bay's ecosystem. One such effort is the Manila Bay Sustainable Development Master Plan, which will serve to guide decision-makers in the assessment and approval of programs, activities, projects (PAPs) for implementation in the Manila Bay and in adjacent areas with significant influence on the bay.
