COAST Card

A Comprehensive Tool for Coastal Management

What is COAST Card?

The Coastal Ocean Assessment for Sustainability and Transformation (COAST) Card is an innovative tool that prioritizes public input. It keeps track of, predicts, and communicates how management decisions impact the sustainability of coastal and ocean environments.

Our Mission

The COAST Card was created through international partnership and aims to build trust among stakeholders, scientists, and managers. Our goal is to provide accessible scientific information and guidance in the form of environmental report cards to inspire positive changes.

COAST Card Research

Our research integrates six aspects of coastal management: Science, Governance, Environmental Engineering, Technology, Heritage and Values, and Social Learning. The COAST Card aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and sustainability in coastal areas.

COAST Card focuses on using system dynamics modeling and social network analysis to better understand communities. See our Research Methods tab to learn more.

The COAST Card training program and an interactive learning environment aim to empower other communities to model the COAST Card process, contributing to a more sustainable future. To find out more about our research, see the Publication tab.
