"Elucidating the migratory clock"

Migratory cells are an integral part of the life of a eukaryotic organism – from embryonic development to physiological processes in adults such as wound healing and immunity. These cells are expert navigators, coordinating complex gene networks, punctually, to migrate through complex environments. Our lab uses border cell migration in D. melanogaster egg chambers as a model for collective cell migration, specifically, the timing of migration. Understanding the well conserved steroid hormone pathway, which regulates developmental timing, will serve as a useful guide to comprehend nuclear hormone receptors and their role in disease.
