Microsoft has identified a network of bots on the platform X, linked to China, targeting Republican candidates in key re-election races in Alabama, Tennessee, and Texas. These influence operations, called "Spamouflage," focus on down-ballot races, spreading accusations of corruption against China critics such as Representatives Barry Moore and Michael McCaul and Senator Marsha Blackburn. The campaign, while not highly viral, aims to reduce anti-China sentiment among U.S. legislators.
