Our Mission
The Public Interest Technology (PIT) club aims to bridge the gap between tech, policy, and the public good. Public Interest Technology is not just about harnessing the power of innovation; it's about directing that power toward the greater good.
Our Core Values
Advocacy
We recognize our role not just as tech enthusiasts but as advocates for responsible technology. We are committed to understanding, promoting, and finding solutions that ensure the ethical use of technology.
Collaboration
We are certain that technology's broad impact requires diverse perspectives. By valuing interdisciplinary collaboration, we welcome and encourage students from all majors to join and contribute.
Empowerment
We believe knowledge is power. Therefore, we are committed to educating ourselves and others about the impact of technology in society and how they can actively engage in the process of shaping technologies.
What We Do
We encourage and support students in using their technical skills and public interest to serve broader societal needs and shape technology in ways that will promote social welfare. PIT acts as a platform for students to learn about, discuss, and contribute to the development and implementation of technology that benefits the public. This will include understanding the ethical considerations of technology use, promoting digital literacy, and learning effective advocacy strategies.
