Interested in Research Participant Opportunities?
The members of the Muscle Physiology are interested in understanding how human skeletal muscle changes are affected by age, gender, and habitual physical activity. We use a combination of non-invasive techniques to measure muscle size, strength and energy production during the development of muscle fatigue in a variety of populations. Our primary focus is on how changes in older age (>65 years) might affect fatigue, and how fatigue might affect mobility. The lab is run by Professor Jane Kent in the Department of Kinesiology, and our primary source of funding is the National Institute on Aging. Members include graduate students, research staff and undergraduate researchers. We collaborate with research teams throughout the department and across campus.
