This WP will contribute to:
· Elucidate the cause-effect relationship of carbohydrate content, dietary fatty acid (FA) profile on the epigenetic and phenotypic outcomes
· Assess the reversibility of the epigenetic marks induced by the nutritional programming and the resulting phenotypes
· Generate a better mechanistic understanding of nutritional programming
Research questions:
· How dietary carbohydrate content, FA profile and the interplay between them translate into epigenetic signatures?
· What are the specific roles of DNA methylation, histone modifications and lncRNA induced by carbohydrate content and dietary fatty acid profile early intervention on gene expression and metabolism long-term?
· How do those changes in gene expression translate into physiologically relevant phenotypes?
