A NIL Collective is a group of individuals ranging from alumni, business owners, donors, and boosters putting money in one place to recruit and attract recruits, transfers, and top talent to their university through money endorsement deals. The Foundation is a non-profit and its goal is to raise 13 million dollars to provide NIL opportunities to student-athletes. Primarily this organization targets football and basketball players who attend the university but reach outside other sports. Yet, The 1870 society NIL collective is exclusively for the high-power football team and has backed the team ever since the launch of NIL.
Many of the members and founders of these collectives are former alumni, faculty, or professional athletes who help run and support these collectives. Most notably, Urban Meyer, D’Angelo Russell, and Terry McLaurin. The impact of these NIL collectives allowed OSU to spend 20 million dollars on transfer and high school recruits to get the number one talented football roster in 2024. Texas One Fund is partnered with WME Sports and a sales team to work with student-athletes. The University of Miami has two major NIL collectives that support its athletic programs. The main NIL collective is Canes Connection where the goal of this organization is to raise 10 million dollars annually for their student-athletes through partnership and brand deals. Alone the football team worked over 15 million dollars to get transfer and high school prospects to flip their prior commitment and to come to Miami. Funding and backing of these collectives are the CEOs of two sports companies that are called Shadow Lion, a sports content creation company, and LifeWallet Sports.

This collective is more spread out and also captures women in sports as well. With the Grove collective serving over 400 athletes, the collective has topped 10 million dollars. This collective is made and funded by businessmen who either had ties to the university or attended the university at some point. The Grove collective is an athletic program-wide collective with its goal of “extensive programming opportunities for all Rebel student-athletes.” This collective is known for being one of the "most aggressive collectives" when it comes to getting their student-athletes brand deals according to On3.com. The most notable deals that Ole Miss athletes and their collective have been involved in are The Brandr Group and Dick's Sporting Goods.
