Summary of NIL Collectives and Their Impact on College Sports
Looking at the top NIL Collectives in the country we found a common theme throughout my research and that is the impact football has on NIL Collectives. Many schools, especially the ones we examine, have a special NIL collective for only football, thus allowing them to get the top recruits and transfer athletes on their teams. Furthermore, the data shows this system is working because these schools ever since NIL came to college football have been performing outstanding.

Furthermore, the data shows this system is working because these schools ever since NIL came to college football have been performing outstanding.
This point is especially highlighted by the University of Texas football team. Under new NIL rules, Texas was able to revive its program from lackluster seasons and had a back-to-back successful season due to NIL. When looking at the impact of NIL, college football seems to have the main focus with more massive student-athlete contracts. Yet, outside the field of football due to the success of the football program the university as a whole can benefit. According to USAToday.com, "After the University of Tennessee beat Alabama in football, the school saw 1,578 new students set to enroll in the university the next fall." Ultimately, NIL has a major impact from success within the athletic department to boosting enrollment at a university. Consequently, since NIL is so massive and has many complexities it is still unknown how great NIL and the collective have been toward each university.

We think the NIL model we know right now might not be sustainable as not every state possesses a NIL law which makes it difficult to obtain perfect equity throughout the country. But shortly, if the NCAA succeeds in having Congress pass a federal standard, we could start to see a system where US law and NCAA law work together for the athlete. Thus, we also can see new conference realignment depending on how NIL will be governed in the future outside of the new additions to the BIG-TEN, SEC, BIG-XII, and PAC-12 this past year in the 2024-2025 season.

Furthermore, he has professional experience in working in community outreach and engagement with the prominent Chicago Blackhawks affiliate with the Indy Fuel Hockey Team.
Tom-Saint Juvin is a student at the University of Indianapolis. He holds a Bachelor of Sciences and Techniques of Sport Activities from the University Savoie Mont Blanc in France, and a Master of Science in Exercise Science from UIndy. He runs track and field and cross country at this same university and has multiple track coaching experience and a research background in sports performance. He is also a die-hard Detroit Pistons fan.
