Clinical Research Coordinator:
Vanessa Ferrer Briceno
I am a medical doctor specialized in Otolaryngology with over 20 years of clinical and research experience across Venezuela and the United States. Currently, I serve as a Clinical Research Coordinator for the PROTECT study at the University of Illinois Chicago, which supports families of children undergoing dental surgery to improve oral health habits. My work focuses on building trust with participants, ensuring cultural sensitivity, and promoting behavior change through collaboration with Community Health Workers. I’m especially passionate about working with children—they are independent, authentic, and deeply rewarding to support. I’m drawn to the human side of research, where empathy and communication make a real difference. Personally, I love connecting with people from diverse backgrounds and learning from their cultures. Traveling, photography, and cooking are my favorite hobbies, as they reflect my curiosity and love for life. I’m proud to contribute to a study that empowers families and helps create healthier communities
