"As a lifelong Chicagoan and child advocate, I have devoted my career to child betterment in hopes of improving quality of life for children within the Chicagoland area. I have worked in research for the last nine years and am currently a part-time research assistant for the PROTECT project. I also work on a federal grant project for Chicago Public Schools developing community-based education plans. I started research by working on two different projects, one examining the longitudinal impact of Head Start Programs and the other examining an after-school mentorship program for at-risk students. From here, I have worked on projects involving smoking cessation in adolescent girls, video game intervention classroom methods for children diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and as an enumerator for the 2020 U.S. decennial census. My interest in pediatric oral health began in 2018 while working on the Coordinated Oral Health Promotion Project investigating community health workers’ influence on improving oral health outcomes in young children and continues today. In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors, live music, museums, rigorous exercise, video gaming and drawing."
"I am a second-year Master of Public Health student at UIC, with a concentration in Community Health Sciences and a certificate in Global Health. A theme that has often emerged in my work is supporting young people - kids, middle schoolers, teenagers, and college students. As a public health student with a psychology background, I understand that environmental factors and social determinants of health are crucial to promoting positive outcomes for them and I look forward to seeing what we are able to accomplish with PROTECT. In my free time, I enjoy running, coloring, junk journaling, and spending time watching comfort shows with my friends."

I am a sophomore pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences with minors in Public Health and Nutrition at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). As an aspiring dentist, I am interested in community health and working in predominantly Black and Latine neighborhoods. I understand the persistent health inequities among Spanish-speaking patients in the United States and aim to develop a holistic care approach through research. As a research assistant, I am involved in recruitment and enrollment and in examining the reasons families choose not to enroll in PROTECT. In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, reading, and watching sports.
