How Your Participation is Graded

Weekly Preparation and Participation/Attendance Grade

10 points each day.

Camera on helps you engage with the material, the instructor, and other students. Camera off for entire class without explanation or request for accommodation: maximum grade of 7.5 (but will default to 0 if not participating).

10 (A): On time, volunteers frequently, works well with others, very well-prepared for class. Contributes ideas and opinions to class, shows willingness to learn, speaks French at all times.

7.5 (C): Late, minimally prepared, speaks English, speaks only when spoken to, sometimes contributes to group work, listens passively, rare and reluctant participation. Uses internet device (cell phone, laptop, tablet, etc.) to text or view non-class materials.

0 (F): Extremely late, no preparation, speaks English, does not participate in individual or group work, distracts others, disruptive, OR Absent with no documented excuse (see Attendance).

DROP-IN HOURS: One required visit

One REQUIRED visit during the whole semester (minimum of 20 minutes for this visit). This visit figures into the participation grade.

Visiting one drop-in hour=100% participation for one day

Not visiting any drop-in hours=0 participation for one day

Peer-Tutoring: One required visit

One REQUIRED visit during the whole semester (minimum of 20 minutes for this visit). This visit figures into the participation grade.

Visiting Peer-Tutoring Once =100% participation for one day

Not visiting Peer Tutoring =0 participation for one day
