Artist Statement

My art practice focuses on how technology creates avenues of escape. As we are all pushed into our homes for most if not all of the day. I create panorama images that make it possible for individuals to look from inside their homes out into other worlds. No matter how familiar or alien they may be. Smaller changes to the climate or the objects strewn about can change the perception of how someone looks at their surroundings.

Moreover, with the increasing usage and the affordability of smartphones. As well as other platforms such as the desktop computer, interactivity is one of the prevailing aspects of the artwork presented.

As an artist my center of attention is on learning and utilizing new technology and applications to create artwork. Using both traditional techniques, and practices, and synthesizing it with New Media to create the work below.

Thoughts on the Process:

This process of Panorama drawing requires some studying on perspective and the distortion of a spherical viewpoint. The program that is utilized to create these works of art is Photoshop. It is a very power hungry process and will demand a lot of graphical processing power.

For that reason, I had to limit myself in the resolution of the canvas that I was working on to the dimensions of 1024 pixels in width to 512 in height. I would have preferred to have worked on a scale of 10,000 to 5,000px so that I could have a crystal clear image and would be able to work draw out smaller details. However, my desktop computer was unable to work at such a large resolution and thus drawing a single line would take several seconds to process which would be unbearable.

Once actually working on the canvas, the the objects are broken down into to more easily recognizable ones. with that color will be affected and how it can change the tone and mood of the background.
