The UIC Science Resource Center (UIC-SRC) is the University's full-service testing and research laboratory that provides chemical, physical, and microbiological analysis of water/wastewater, food/feeds, agricultural (soil, plant tissues, fertilizer), pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and other samples. It supports faculty and students through technical assistance and instrumentation training, serves external customers at nominal fees, and conducts health- and environment-related research.
Originally named as the Science Research Center, the office was created in November 1994 to serve the instrumentation needs of the Pharmacy Department. Inaugurated in June 1995, it was later renamed as the Science Resource Center to provide laboratory testing and research services to internal (UIC faculty and students) and external (industry, academe, government and non-government agencies) customers.

To ensure that all personnel are trained to a level of familiarity with the quality management system appropriate to the individual’s degree of responsibility.
To improve and validate laboratory methodologies by participation in method validation collaborative tests.
To maintain a continuing assessment of the accuracy and precision of data generated by analysts and detect training needs within the laboratory group.
To maintain adequate record keeping and proper report writing.
