Song-Writing Project with Ear Sketch

After learning some coding with Lynx, students in grade 5 were eager to challenge themselves even more! We began using Ear Sketch, an online coding platform that allows students to sample music from other artists and add sounds from different genres and instruments. Some students even experimented with recording sounds to use in their songs.

100 Classrooms Challenge with the Rotman Institute and the Ontario SPCA

Grade 5 and Kindergarten joined this daunting project in March and it lasted until May. Students were given a real-world problem from the Ontario SPCA (How can we help the SPCA help new Canadians connect with animals as part of their Canadian identity?) and guided through design thinking to create a solution to pitch to the organization.
